Kenn Lett fought as a fighter pilot for the RCAF during the Second World War, including providing air cover on D-Day during the invasion of Normandy in France. He later served as NORAD’s chief of staff at its headquarters in Colorado. Lett celebrated his 100 th birthday this year.

For his contributions to Canadian military aviation in a career spanning both the Second World War and Canada’s contributions during the Cold War, and for his leadership in business aviation and his wider support for the aviation community, Kenneth Lett was inducted into Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame at ceremonies held in 2023.

Ken Lett’s aviation career began as an RCAF fighter pilot during the Second World War, during which he flew Supermarine Spitfires with 402 Squadron. On D-Day, Ken flew top cover at Normandy for the attacking Allied troops.
