The Israeli Kfir is an all-weather, multi-role combat aircraft based on a modified French Dassault Mirage 5 airframe, with Israel Aircraft Industries avionics and an Israeli-built version of the General Electric J79 turbojet engine. The C2 version entered service with the Heyl Ha’Avir in 1976.

The C2 is an improved Kfir with full canards, more sophisticated aerodynamics and avionics, and four new stores hard points on the wings. The public saw the first C2 at an airshow in July of 1976. It entered active service in 1977.
