
KGFJ Los Angeles Radio History - Playlist Research
KGFJ began in 1926 and by 1928 it was the first radio station ever to broadcast a 24-hour schedule on a regular basis. Ben S. McGlashan was an early owner. In 1954 KGFJ billed itself as "the original 24-hour station." In the daytime it played a mix of news and orchestral music at 1230 on the AM dial. At night the station played r&b music.
