King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard (KGLW) are an Australian rock band formed in 2010 in Melbourne, Victoria. [1] [2] The band's current lineup consists of Stu Mackenzie (vocals, guitar), Ambrose Kenny-Smith (vocals, harmonica, keyboards), Cook Craig (guitar, keyboards), Joey Walker (guitar), Lucas Harwood (bass), and Michael Cavanagh (drums).

In 2021, Cavs released his debut solo self-titled drumming album. A pure expression of his drumming ability, CAVS shows off chops in various percussive styles outside of what he usually gets to play with King Gizzard. Heavy Moss is a lo-fi band fronted by Lucas, featuring long-time collaborator Sam Ingles, as well as Kyle Tickell and Bec Goring.

His other pre-existing group The Houses, were partially disbanded and in need of a new drummer, for which Eric introduced them to an old high school friend new in Melbourne: Michael Cavanagh. Better known as ‘Cavs’, he was born and raised in Deniliquin where his family ran a caravan park and his dad worked as a plumber.
