Kong’s interdisciplinary research bridges plant biology, soil science, microbiology, and chemical engineering. Currently, Kong works on understanding how arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), which form mutualistic relationships with land plants, alters carbon allocation within corn plants.
