The hwacha or hwach'a (Korean: 화차; Hanja: 火車; lit. fire cart [1]) was a multiple rocket launcher and an organ gun of similar design which were developed in fifteenth century Korea.

Cannons appeared in Korea by the mid 14th century during the Goryeo dynasty and quickly proliferated as naval and fortress-defense weapons. Major developments occurred throughout the 15th century, including the introduction of large siege mortars as well as major improvements that drastically increased range, power, and accuracy.

Singijeon or shinkichon (Korean: 신기전; Hanja: 神機箭; lit. Divine machine arrows) was a type of Korean fire arrow rocket, used during the era of the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1897). Multiple singijeon could be launched by hwacha (multiple rocket launcher).

Fired as an artillery piece more than the direct-fire rocket wheelbarrows built and employed by Ming China, the hwacha delivered a single, massive volley out to about 450 meters, reduced to 100 in bad weather according to observers at the time.

The first Korean rocket manufactured in Hwa‐tong‐do‐gam between 1377 and 1389 provided the technological heritage for forthcoming rockets called Sin‐Gi‐Jeon. Kuk Cho Ore Sorye served as a technical manual for manufacture and operation of the rockets.
