Beta Corvi or β Corvi, officially named Kraz (/ ˈ k r æ z /), [9] is the second-brightest star in the southern constellation of Corvus with an apparent visual magnitude of 2.647. [2] Based on parallax measurements obtained during the Hipparcos mission, it is about 146 light-years (45 parsecs) distant from the Sun. [1]

From its distance of 140 light years, this 5100 Kelvin star radiates with the power of 160 Suns, which together give a radius of 16 solar. Though the star's (minimum) equatorial rotation speed is just over double that of the Sun's, its large size means that it may take as much as 180 days to make a full turn.

Kraz (Beta) is the lowest star of the box, while Alchiba, the faint Alpha star, is just down and to the right of the right-hand star of the box, Minkar (Epsilon). Inside the box, Zeta lies just down and to the left of Minkar and is the lower left of a tight pair (with HR 4691 to the upper right).

The southwestern star of the quadrangle that forms the Crow's body, Kraz is the second brightest of Corvus' stars after Gienah to the northwest. This is a lone yellow bright giant star with no known companions.
