Kubuntu is based on KDE desktop, while Ubuntu uses the GNOME desktop. Gnome requires a lot more typing of commands in the terminal than KDE, which is more of a user-friendly environment. KDE is glossier, slicker, and can have things like 3D bouncing/stretching/exploding folders, while Gnome is more scaled back, plain jane.

After I boot up my Kubuntu 18.04, I persistently lost the desktop icon setup to default (all the icons were packed up to the top) that is set up on boot process. To cure this problem, first I recreate icon arrangements on my desktop. Using Konsole, cd to go to default. There is a hidden directory .config. Do cd .config.

I have recently installed kubuntu 9.04, then upgraded to the latest Kubuntu (10.4). Everything went smooth and I have used it OK for about two weeks. After the latest security/bugfixes update, the bootloader got corrupted. My questions: Can I restore it from the 9.04 boot CD/DVD, or do I need a special rescue system?

I just did upgrade to 24.04. I got notification in process that some 3rd party sources removed. Now i want to enable. Where basic user can do that?
