What was the reason the abrams never got the longer gun, but the leopard 2 gun did? Does it prove that above a certain length its generally pointless to increase the length of an MBT gun, and instead its better to invest in APFSDS technology and gun metallurgy?

My dad was the original purchaser back in the 70's, I had the woofers resorted by a JBL certified shop about 10 years ago, tested them to make sure they worked and then put them in storage.

2021年6月10日 · From what I understand the gun tube on the L44 and M256 is the same. The major differences are in the breech and recoil mechanism. The US made theirs simpler, cheaper, and lighter as they felt the German version was over engineered. This change is why the Abrams can’t be upgraded to the L55 gun without major changes.
