The LB&SCR L Class was a class of 4-6-4 steam tank locomotives designed by L. B. Billinton for the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway. They were known as the "Brighton Baltics", Baltic being the European name for the 4-6-4 wheel arrangement.

Begun by Stroudley before his untimely death in December 1889, this locomotive was completed over a two-year period. The trailing radial axle was designed by Stroudley, but modified by Billinton, his successor. Its service area ran between Portsmouth and Brighton.

The LBSC was better than the other Southern Companies in keeping locomotive classes more or less in consecutive numbers, but they could issue these numbers somewhat randomly!
