This plane was never used in combat due to the introduction of ICBMs, and was later repurposed for supersonic flight testing. The plane features an innovative folding wingtip design, allowing the plane to 'ride' its own shockwave when flying.

The XB-70 Valkyrie was the prototype of a nuclear-armed, supersonic strategic bomber designed in the late 1950s by North American Aviation for the USAF. This six-engined marvel was capable of flying for thousands of miles at 70.000 feet with a cruise speed of Mach 3, and being therefore almost impossible to intercept from enemy aircraft.

But seing its utility being less and less useful and thanks to a crash with a fighter jet escorting one of the prototypes, the project was finally cancelled.
