AMD AM4 is another PGA socket?! - TechPowerUp
2016年12月16日 · I prefer LGA over PGA, at least the motherboard is less expensive to replace. I've had a couple past AMD CPU's the pin snapped trying to straighten it out meaning I'm out a CPU. Edit: Also one Pentium 4 CPU on Socket 478, technically should of died from a missing pin.
AMD Socket AM5 an LGA of 1,718 Pins with DDR5 and PCIe Gen 4
2021年5月22日 · It happens, it is an implementation issue with PGA sockets, used to happen on laptop CPUs too, which were all PGA and had a nasty habit of doing the exact same thing. 2: Hard paste is the cause, but there is a solution. Intel figured that out with the LGA retention bracket, they had the same issue on socket 370/423/478.
Intel LGA Socket 1700: Lower Height, New Hole Pattern
2021年5月24日 · A few details have been let out on Intel's next socket, LGA 1700, which will be the one to accept next-gen Alder Lake CPUs. Apparently, Intel's LGA 1700 - which replaces the current LGA 1200 socket) will feature a lower height (by a full [1] millimeter, helping to further reduce socket load) as well...
AMD Socket AM5 an LGA of 1,718 Pins with DDR5 and PCIe Gen 4
2021年5月22日 · newtekie1LGA pins are LGA pins. At least they are less likely to get damaged than pins on the CPU. I'm so glad AMD is finally moving to LGA for their mainstream desktop processors.I find damaging socket pins easier. But 1718 pins …
AMD AM4 is another PGA socket?! - TechPowerUp
2016年12月16日 · I do prefer LGA sockets anyway and the thing is I'm just disappointed in AMD and I wish they hadn't acquired ATi as they are drowning together. AMD is responsible for : - Little or no competition in CPU market for years. - Rebranding GPUs multiple times.o_O - …
AMD Ryzen 9 Series "Threadripper" CPU Socket Detailed
2017年5月16日 · Guys, LGA is better, that's the point, i'm not saying you can't prevent any kind of problem on PGA, but LGA is far more user friendly, and secure.TotallyI have seen pins get bent, knocked out of alignment because the cpu was dropped on the socket.I build countless of pcs with LGA socket, never, never had issues in any way with it

AMD FM1 and FM2 Packages Pictured Side-by-Side, Incompatible
2011年11月13日 · Socket pins can be made much more compact than package pins, and hence higher pin-counts can be achieved using LGA. For the same reason, AMD uses LGA and not PGA for all its packages with over 1000 pins. Intel switched to LGA from PGA because it wanted to maintain a package size similar to s478 package, while making room for 775 pins.
