To be named Highlander, No.3403, will be the third LNER V4 Class locomotive, Sir Nigel Gresley’s last design, and will be adapted to run on today’s railway. Original drawings have been scanned to enable 3D computer aided design to start, and the trust has started to acquire materials for the project which will be officially launched in 2023.

At the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust Silver Jubilee Convention, it was announced that after the completion of no. 2007 "Prince of Wales", they would begin construction on a new V4 which will be number 3403 (61702). [2]

3403 Highlander In January 2018 the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust announced that they had acquired the first components of as part of plan to build a new V4 class locomotive. The locomotive will not be built until the P2 class 2007 Prince of Wales has been completed.

The London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) Class V1 and Class V3 were two classes of related 2-6-2T steam locomotive designed by Sir Nigel Gresley. [1] A total of 82 V1s were built with 71 being rebuilt into the higher pressure V3s with an additional ten being built as V3s from the final batch of V1s.

2021年2月11日 · The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust has announced that document management company, Cleardata, has started to scan in the 366 original Doncaster Works drawings which will allow LNER V4 No. 3403 to be constructed. Alongside this news, the trust has also confirmed that it has made progress on the pre-launch phase of the new project.
