
NER Class S3 - Wikipedia
The North Eastern Railway Class S3, classified B16 by the LNER, was a class of 4-6-0 steam locomotive designed for mixed traffic work. It was designed by Vincent Raven and introduced in 1920. The earlier members of this class were fitted with Westinghouse Brakes - all of this equipment was removed during the 1930s.

NER/LNER B16/2 4-6-0 61435, after running round at Hawes station, during the RCTS 'North Yorkshireman Rail Tour' in April 1964. The loco entered service with the North Eastern Railway in 1922, and was rebuilt by Gresley in 1937. It was the last of its class in service, and was withdrawn in July 1964, and scrapped in November.

2012年9月21日 · I started work on B16/2 61437 today, some notes and photos. This loco is from a PDK kit with some modifications, the kit seems basically good, all the parts fit well so far and it's etched in .015" brass and nickel silver rather than the 10 or 12 thou that most manufacturers use.

2023年4月20日 · The B16/3 were a later 16 re-builds done by Thompson, these have the distinction of being slightly shorter than the preceding re-builds, having three sets of Walschaerts instead of the two and the conjugated set of the /2. They were also left-hand drive as opposed to the right-hand drive of the /2.
