The GNR Stirling G2 0-4-4T Locomotives The G2 class was an earlier version of the G1 class, constructed between 1881 and 1885. Ten engines had full height chimneys and worked in the Bradford area. The remaining six engines were fitted with short chimneys and condensers for working the London suburban services.

Three Class G2 0-6-0T (LNER J80) tank locomotives were built in 1892 all withdrawn by 1931. Following these were five Class F1 0-6-2T (LNER N11) engines in 1900, all withdrawn by 1946 and nine Class F2 0-6-2T (LNER N12) engines all withdrawn by 1938 apart from LNER No. 9089 which survived until 1948.
