The Drummond G8 (NBR Class P) 0-4-4T Locomotives. Drummond introduced the Class P (LNER G8) locomotives in 1877 for the North British Railway (NBR)'s Glasgow to Helensburgh service. These were originally 0-4-2Ts which closely resembled Stroudley's London Brighton & South Coast (LBSC) Class D locomotives.

This section of the LNER Encyclopedia describes all of the locomotive classes to serve with the LNER. The LNER would often denote major modifications with a slash. E.g. B16/2 is a modified B16. Occasionally such modifications would be so substantial that a completely new class number would be given (eg. an A3 is a modified A1).

Dugald Drummond (1 January 1840 – 8 November 1912) was a Scottish steam locomotive engineer. He had a career with the North British Railway, LB&SCR, Caledonian Railway and London and South Western Railway. He was the older brother of the engineer Peter Drummond, who often followed Dugald's ideas in his own work.

The LNER 'G' 0-4-4 Locomotives. The LNER owned a number of 0-4-4 tank locomotive types, including an unusual crane tank. The 0-4-4T configuration was a popular type for local passenger and branch work, and was often adopted as an alternative to the 2-4-2T configuration.
