2022年2月5日 · Ford F30 CMP (30 CWT) The Ford F30 was a four wheel drive truck that replaced the earlier commercially produced Chevrolet 30 CWTs. A major advantage to the truck was its four wheel drive capability and the commonality of engine parts with the Ford Pilot Cars.

The Ford F30’s had the advantage of 4 wheel drive, a more powerful 95HP V8 engine, and a bigger load area compared to the Chevrolet trucks. However they were harder to camouflage due to their height, louder with the 4x4 transmission and V8 engine, heavier, had a shorter range due to their poorer MPG (Miles per Gallon) and were less reliable.

The LRDG made their trademark modifications to the base trucks and the Ford F30 CMP 30 cwt Patrol Truck was born. Typical LRDG basic vehicle modifications were the fitting of sand tires, condenser cooling systems, cut down radiator grating, addition of unsticking equipment (sand channels and pioneer tools) and the famous Bagnold sun compass.
