Why do LSD's help with drifting? : r/cars - Reddit
A front LSD works the same as a rear LSD. It still splits torque and allows for limited slip between the drive wheels. It can also introduce more understeer when under power in tight corners, the same way a rear LSD in a RWD car can introduce more oversteer when under power, since it makes it easier to break traction on both drive wheels.
How beneficial is a limited slip differential? : r/cars - Reddit
2022年1月11日 · It’s extremely noticeable, if you drive your car hard at all, as the throttle affecting steering mid-corner is unmistakable. I’ve owned a Z4 3.0i without a LSD and a few cars with a LSD (s2000 and Camaro 1LE). The cars with the LSD can accelerate way harder through a corner and can power oversteer in 1st/2nd.
How important is an lsd on front wheel drive : r/CarTrackDays
2022年8月23日 · My car, the Veloster N has an electronically actuated mechanical clutch type LSD. And it's amazing. My corner exit speeds are pretty high because I can get on the throttle so early and I just let the LSD sort out the traction situation.
ELI5: What is LSD in cars and how do they help - Reddit
2014年7月9日 · In its simplest explanation, an LSD is a "Limited Slip Differential" Example: You have a rear wheel drive car, if either of the "driven" wheels loses traction the LSD transfers torque to the opposite wheel to help keep you on the road by maintaining traction.
LSD VS. Open Diff handling? : r/cars - Reddit
2022年11月26日 · Depending on the type of LSD it can be a handling tradeoff. A 2-way mechanical (clutch type) LSD that locks up under deceleration will actually make the car understeer on turn in by keeping the drive wheels going the same speed. But it helps in drifting to have the rear wheels locked while intentionally transferring weight off the rear tires.
Which type of Limited Slip Differential is the best? : r/cars - Reddit
LSD are still pretty rare, especially considering how many cars total are sold. Performance LSD tend to be clutch based with electric/electronic actuation. This type of diffs are best in terms of performance with all the nannies (or track mode) still turned on, they squezze everything out of the car. Interconnecting LSD depends on application.
FWD Transmission LSDs : r/cars - Reddit
2013年8月4日 · The LSD helps put down power in the corners by eliminating outside wheel slip. It allows an angular momentum and torque differential across the outputs up to some multiplier. I drive a FWD car with an LSD, and the difference in cornering is night and day. I can also confirm that it is fantastic in the snow (and mud!)
Is an LSD better or worse for daily driving? : r/askcarguys - Reddit
2023年2月7日 · If you’re considering an aftermarket LSD look into its type, the lockup, the behavior of the ramps (if it’s the type that has them), etc. But if you’re considering a sporty car and it has an OEM LSD, that’s fine and will improve your experience over an open diff. Welded or locked differentials are a different thing entirely.
Anyone have experience putting in a LSD in a USDM type S?
2020年8月31日 · LSD doesn’t cause any noticeable power drain; completely changed how the car drove on the track. The 5.1 final drive makes a lot more torque than the original 4.3, and the LSD means the car can really put it down and claw its way out of corners. Geometry adjusted suspension also meant there was no hopping out of corners due to bump or torque ...
