4 天之前 · Save Detroit & Mackinac /LSRC ALCO RS2 #469 from scrap. 974 and 975 are Morrison Knudsen rebuilds with the 251 engine. 469 is an original D&M RS-2, one of the very early RS-2's built. My understanding is that 469 and 974 are in Saginaw and will be "scrapped last" on a timetable unknown to me, but "rather soon" was my impression. 975 is in Alpena.

According to the Kalmbach Shortline Guide (published 96), the Lake State operates freight service from Bay City, MI to La Rocque and from Pinconning to Gaylord plus three branch lines.

2007年10月30日 · Yes, the 469 was among the original RS2's purchased by the D&M in 1946. It and the #466 are the only survivors of the lot, with #468 and #4610 being scrapped a few years ago in Alpena, MI. They had been heavily cannabalized for years prior to that. #467 was scrapped in Port Gibson, MS in the mid-80's.

In an attempt to try to obtain one of these locos for a local museum, I communicated with the current owner (Waymore Power / Spencer Garrent) and found they were planning to scrap these during the week of 11/7/10!

Engine #469 is still in its old Detroit & Mackinac Railway colors, built 9-1946. They were the 1st Railroad to fully dieselize from steam! This is one of their 1st diesels! I've never seen it run, this is the best that I've done! It's worth saving of course!
