With twenty-three Departments and four Centers of Excellence, the School of Medicine (SOM) is the largest school within LSU Health New Orleans. Our faculty and learners contribute to exciting advances in medical science in both the laboratory and the clinic.

The LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans encompasses not only the School of Medicine but also Schools of Allied Health, Dentistry, Graduate Studies, Nursing, and Public Health.

LSUHSC School of Medicine in New Orleans requires every applicant to take the MCAT. The test is administered multiple times during the year at testing centers throughout the nation.

Medicine. Over 800 students are enrolled in the MD program, and we also offer two combined degree programs: MD/MPH and MD/PhD. Over 900 residents and fellows are in nearly 70 different graduate medical training programs.

2025年3月25日 · On Friday, 188 LSU Health New Orleans graduating medical students gathered at Audubon Tea Room to discover the results of the annual National Resident Match Program (NRMP). Match Day results revealed that 50% of graduates will remain in Louisiana for residency training. Of those, 80% will enter an LSU Health residency program.
