Louisiana Believes from the Louisiana Department of Education and Odell Education VISIT WEBSITE Louisiana Believes is built on the premise that Louisiana students are just as capable as any students in America , and that those closest to children – parents and teachers – are best positioned to help students achieve those expectations.

She is also a Teaching Consultant for the San Diego Area Writing Project where she leads professional learning in all content areas. She believes that all students are capable of brilliance and deserve a high-quality education with access to high level learning. She enjoys spending time at the beach and event planning.

The attached Louisiana Believes “Teacher Program Guide” for the High School Literacy Guidebooks program has been annotated by ELSF to highlight the aspects of the curriculum that reflect ELSF Guidelines.

ELSF believes content and language learning should be simultaneous. Leaders who are looking for practical ways to support science teachers with multilingual learners in their classrooms could consider using the Guidelines within professional learning communities or to ground conversations within professional learning experiences .

Kim believes increasing equity for all students is the single most important social issue today. She holds a BA in cognitive science from Brown University and an MBA from Yale School of Management. ‍

Melissa believes in the power of a shared vision, and works to challenge the process and build educator capacity. Her work in education spans two decades and always incorporates an equity-centered approach to positively affect outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse learners.

Chalon holds a B.S. in Middle Level Education from Wilmington University, an M.Ed. in Education Policy and Leadership from American University, and an Ed.D. in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University. Chalon is a native New Yorker and currently resides in a suburb of New Orleans, LA.
