Instrument to test patency of lacrimal drainage system
This paper describes a hand-held, personal-computer-based instrument to quantitatively estimate the resistance to fluid flow through the lacrimal drainage system. This resistance measurement is proposed as a possible means to diagnose blockage of the system and to verify the degree of change in resistance after clinical treatment.
Measurement of the Resistance to Fluid Flow within the Lacrimal Outflow ...
1995年11月1日 · Because dacryocystorhinostomy bypasses the lower drainage system (sac and nasolacrimal duct), the resistance measured in this group of patients was determined only by the upper (canalicular) system. Results: The mean resistance within the normal lacrimal system is 49.5 ± 17.0 mmHg· seconds/ml.
Measurement of the resistance to fluid flow within the lacrimal …
Results: The mean resistance within the normal lacrimal system is 49.5 +/- 17.0 mmHg.seconds/ml. Just more than half of the resistance, 26.8 +/- 13.1 mmHg.seconds/ ml (54%), comes from the canaliculi, leaving 22.7 mmHg.seconds/ml (46%) attributable to the lower system.
Diagnostic utility of tear meniscus height measurement using …
2024年10月28日 · The tear meniscus is a crucial clinical feature for evaluating the lacrimal drainage system, which can be assessed through slit-lamp examination and the fluorescein dye...
Imaging and anatomical parameters of the lacrimal punctum and …
Thus, we identified the imaging features of lacrimal stenosis, punctal obstruction, punctal tear, lacrimal atresia, and lacrimal mass using OCT. Conclusions: OCT can be used to measure the anatomical parameters of lacrimal puncta and vertical canaliculus in vivo .
16913 Evaluation of the Lacrimal System - Oxford Academic
The fluorescein dye disappearance (FDD) test is a quick, simple, and physiologic method for assessing the lacrimal drainage system. 1 The FDD test is an extremely valuable and practical clinical tool, since it is entirely safe and painless and requires no special instrumentation. The test is most meaningful when both eyes are compared ...
Measurement of the Resistance to Fluid Flow within the Lacrimal …
The authors have developed a new instrument that directly measures pressures associated with fluid flow, allowing the calculation (pressure ÷ flow) of resistance within the tear drainage system. The authors believe that the ability to measure the degree of partial lacrimal stenosis quantitatively will be clinically useful, allowing the ...
Diversity in Lacrimal Pathway Morphology Among Patients with …
2024年6月26日 · Our present investigation aimed to conduct a morphological analysis of the lacrimal drainage system in patients with CNLDO using dacryocystography (DCG) images obtained under general anesthesia at our institution.
Lacrimal drainage system - Ento Key
2019年8月25日 · The lacrimal drainage system consists of the following structures ( Fig. 2.1 ): • The puncta are located at the posterior edge of the lid margin, at the junction of the lash-bearing lateral five-sixths (pars ciliaris) and the medial non-ciliated one-sixth (pars lacrimalis). Normally they face slightly posteriorly and can be inspected by ...
Evaluation of the Lacrimal Drainage System - ScienceDirect
1978年12月1日 · The drainage system is divided into two systems; the upper system includes the puncta, canals, common canal, lacrimal pump, sac, and associated valves, and the lower system includes the nasolacrimal duct and the valve of Hasner.
