The Lada Oka (VAZ-1111) was a small four-seat Russian sedan, manufactured by KamAZ. The Oka was designed in Russia in the late 1980's. The first-generation Oka was unsuccessful despite the cheap price.

In 1979, the Serpukhov Motorcycle Plant began work on creating a replacement for the outdated S3D wheelchair, and in 1982 they presented a prototype of the SMZ-1101 "Oka" microcar. At NAMI, the Fiat 126 "Malukh" with a two-cylinder engine located at the rear was used as a basis for developing the Oka.

VAZ is a Russian auto maker that began producing cars, in collaboration with Fiat, in the late 1960s. The Model 1111, commonly branded for export as a Lada Oka, was developed out of a need to replace the simple and cheap ZAZ Zaporozhets, the Russian “People’s Car”. It was to be the car that “every factory worker can afford”.
