The Lake Dunstan Trail is a purpose built 55km cycling and walking trail that traverses some of Central Otago’s most dramatic landscapes & scenery. It’s New Zealand’s latest Great Ride and has quickly become one of the most popular trails in the country.
The Lake Dunstan Trail is open year-round. This trail is two way (dual direction). However, it is narrow (1.5m) in places, with a total climb of 580m over 42 kms.

Lake Dunstan Trail Grand Opening | Central Otago
Join us for the opening of the Lake Dunstan Trail to be held in Clyde, Saturday 8 May, commencing at 9.45am. Speeches will precede a ribbon cutting ceremony to release the first riders onto the trail to ride the trail 'one day, one way' for the first time.
