Laura Ma is the Associate Director of the Rajawali Foundation Institute for Asia and the China Programs. She received her Ph.D. in Assyriology from Northeast Normal University in Changchun, China in 1994. She then served as an associate professor at the University for International Business and Economics in Beijing.

What I do at Stanford: Reporting to the Dept. of Economics Chair, I oversee the department's operations including finance, student affairs, faculty affairs, facilities, and interdepartmental coordination and collaboration. Why ASF is important to me: As an immigrant, ASF gave me a community with colleagues that have common experience and culture.
