What We Eat by Laurie Frick and built by Zigzag in Germany in 2019, installation at COP25, Madrid. My projects use data to tell a story that unfolds over time, the viewer is initially struck by colorful pattern that feels organic and handmade.

Laurie Frick uses data to examine what we can know about ourselves. In her hand-built works she experiments with how we will consume the mass of data increasingly captured about us. Evidence of her engineering background and long-history in high-tech are seen in the deep data analysis and detailed explanations of how this future will unfold.

2013年5月22日 · Laurie Frick thinks self-tracking will become invisible, embedded into apps that we use and don’t even think about. Self-tracking data will be pervasive, for example our clothes will have sensors that know how much we moved our arms and legs, and thus will send accurate data about our caloric expenditure to our Fitbit or Nike+ Fuelband dashboard.

Transparent Data, fused glass and hand-forged hardware on two walls, 10 ft x 45 ft. Every year the senior engineering class work in teams to produce and compete in the annual engineering project fair.

Floating Data, laser cut anodized aluminum in 60 panels, 30 ft x 15 ft, based on location data at Neustar Building in San Francisco. 2015. 12 panel Blue installation 6 ft x 12 ft is at Paul Smith LLC in Omaha, NE 2017. 9 panel steel blue at Federal Reserve Bank, Houston 2018. 30 panel champagne color at Capital One, Cambridge 2021.
