The complex encompasses the emission region designated Sharpless 171, and the young cluster of stars named Berkeley 59. This field is the NGC 7822, Sharpless 171, LBN 582 Region and lies on the border of Cepheus and Cassiopeia. This is a strong Hydrogen emission area. The main nebula structure consists of several separately cataloged objects including some of Lynds bright and Dark catalog objects.

In processing this image I attempted to maximize that contrast, processing the image three times for later combination. The first process was the starless image emphasizing the emission nebula, the second was the starless image emphasizing the dark nebula, and the third was separately acquired RGB stars to be added to the combination at the end.
