From Redmond , LBN 648 is visible all night because it is circumpolar. It will be highest in the sky at dusk, becoming accessible at around 20:34 (PDT), 48° above your north-western horizon. It will be lost to dawn twilight at around 05:55, 22° above your northern horizon. All times shown in Redmond local time.

2023年11月26日 · In my image, the object appears as a shell-like structure with finely differentiated segments of energized Ha, SII and OIII. The SNR is located directly northwest of the structure of the Fish Head Nebula IC 1795, in a frequently photographed region of the sky.

2022年12月10日 · Not only because HB3 is a pretty faint SNR itself but also because there are bright nebulas (fish head, heart, and soul nebulas), one can easily overlook this SNR. This aspect is why I was drawn to that target. Besides the target itself, I struggled with light pollution in my area (Bortle 6~7) and even the moonlight.

However, this colorful cosmic portrait really features glowing gas and obscuring dust clouds in IC 1795, a star forming region in the northern constellation Cassiopeia. This bright emission nebula of about 70 light-years across, is located just over 6,000 light-years away from Earth in the northern constellation of Cassiopeia.

For this reason NGC 896 is sometimes called the Fish-Head Nebula. The brighter NGC 891 was discovered by William Herschel in 1796.
