LBRY is a protocol, and LBRYtv is just another client app for browsing and watching videos on the LBRY network, it supports signing in with existing LBRY/Odysee account email. I agree this confuses many people.

2021年3月18日 · There should be lbry.tv, lbryPlus.tv, lbryKids.tv, LbryDirty.tv, lbryMOVIES.tv, etc. Don't paint yourselves into a corner when you don't have to. Grow the lbry platforms, don't cut or reduce them. As you can see in the comments, some people prefer lbry.tv over odysee.

I'm a beginner of LBRY and want to learn how LBRY sends/receives data from the LBRY Desktop to its chain. From my understanding, the desktop connects to the LBRY network using port 50001, so I tried to download the source code from these projects and run them locally:

That attracts a lot of these creators to lbry. That is not a bad thing, that is awesome! But as outlined in the lbry roadmap, the road of lbc funding is an ending road and the platform will fail or succeed depending on the extent with which lbry will be an interesting platform for other sources of revenue, like advertisement.

2024年3月24日 · The LBRY blockchain is still alive as its a decentralized protocol where anyone can share information. Many people (like myself) are hosting videos through the LBRY desktop application. This means that Odysee or other LBRY related servers don't need as much bandwidth. The LBRY community itself can keep this project going long past the judgment day.

2022年1月9日 · LBRY is now only used on things that are decentralized, and they use other branding for centralized stuff. If you want to open your own clone of LBRY.tv with all the same content -- you can because it's all open source. The thing to remember is that LBRY is a protocol just like HTTP. To use the protocol, you need a LBRY browser.
