When Founder Dr. Joo-Bang Lee created Hwa Rang Do® as a public martial art identity, he divided our Hwa Rang Do curriculum into the dichotomies of Musool (무술 武術 – martial skills) and Insool (인술 仁術 – healing skills).

The Korean Hwa Rang Do Association was formally created and registered with the Korean Government in 1960 by Founder Dr. Joo Bang Lee. This marked the rebirth of the Hwarang and the beginning of the Hwa Rang Do as a modern martial arts and healing arts system, which was codified by Dr. Joo Bang Lee.

Born out of the martial and medical kingdom of Korea’s ancient Hwarang Knighthood and organized into a modern system by Black Belt Hall of Fame Member Dr. Joo Bang Lee in the mid-20 th century, Hwa Rang Do encompasses the entire gamut of combat techniques.

Dr. Joo Bang Lee is the 58 th heir to the title of “Hwarang” which means the “Flowering Knight.” He is the Founder and President of the World Hwa Rang Do ® Association, which governs all Hwa Rang Do Schools, Masters, Instructors, and Students across the globe.

Supreme Grandmaster Dr. Joo Bang Lee is the Chairman of the World Hwa Rang Do® Association (WHRDA, a Non-Profit Humanitarian Organization, which oversees all the Hwa Rang Do® / Tae Soo Do® students, instructors, and schools across the globe) and is the “Dojoo” (Owner of the Art).
