Since the topping out celebration of Texas Children's Legacy Tower in February 2017, significant construction milestones have been reached inside the tower's 400-foot-tall structure. The Legacy Tower will promote the safest possible environment to care for our hospital's most critically ill patients and their families.

A satellite pharmacy is located in the Heart Center’s Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit in Legacy Tower, allowing for medications to be quickly dispensed to some of our sickest patients.

A 100+ auditorium and a nearby conference room used for patient management conferences are located on the sixteenth floor of Legacy Tower in the new Heart Center. Both equipped with new audio-visual equipment.

First phase of Legacy Tower opens Beginning at 7 a.m. on May 22, seven specially-trained clinical teams safely transported 45 critically-ill patients to their new, spacious, state-of-the-art critical care rooms.

The Heart Center’s Administrative Offices are housed on the 19th floor of Legacy Tower and offer dedicated office and conference space.

Each of the Heart Center’s Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit’s floors has a dedicated family lounge equipped with kitchenette appliances, washer/dryer and computers to make stays more comfortable.

There are four 715-square-foot cardiovascular operating rooms in the Heart Center in Legacy Tower equipped with the most up-to-date, sophisticated equipment used to treat the most severe cardiac anomalies.

One of the four catheterization labs in the Heart Center in Legacy Tower is positioned adjacent to a new integrated MRI, which will allow intra-cath MRI imaging.

The Heart Center’s Holding Catheterization Recovery Unit in Legacy Tower is a specialized area established to serve patients in the Heart Center during the peri-anesthetic period. The unit houses two additional beds and a procedure room.
