His "top" ballpark estimate, including a sail and installation is $30k. Wow. Is there any more economical alternative for in-boom furling?

2015年7月29日 · Leisure Furl had issues with high wear on luff tapes and these issues are presumed to be corrected. Another major difference between the Schaefer and LF is the location of the furling drum.

2019年9月27日 · Of the two major furling systems available, the Leisure Furl and the Schaefer, both will offer the advantages of full battens, easy reefing at many convenient points (not infinite though), and should a jam develop you can drop the sail to the deck instead of dealing with a flogging half-in, half-out disaster.

2011年8月17日 · An in boom mounted furling system, such as "Leisure Furl" allows you to furl with a standard main sail. I believe that this would be cheaper than an in mast system, for obvious reasons of not requiring a mast replacement.

2016年10月18日 · We ended up buying the boat in Maine and sailing it back to Lake Erie. By the time we got home we decided the Leisure Furl was much better than we expected. Now, three years, and around 6000 miles later, the Leisure Furl is still on the boat. The only critical point is having the boom at the correct angle when rolling the sail in.
