Letenye is the endpoint of the Hungarian M7 motorway from Budapest. The motorway crosses the Croatian-Hungarian border here and connects with the Croatian A4 motorway at Goričan.

Letenye 1923-tól fontos közúti határátkelőhely, s ma az ország egyik legjelentősebb délnyugati kapuja. Letenye város címerének leírása: A boglárpajzs ezüst mezejében négy vörös harántpólya, a boglárhelyen a heroldalakokra helyezett fekete, nyitott kapujú torony látszik jobbra-balra kitárt fekete ajtószárnyakkal.

Letenye leži nedaleko od granice sa Hrvatskom, jugozapadno od grada protiče rijeka Mura, koja formira granicu, a preko puta leži Prelog. Pored grada prolazi mađarski autoput M7 koji se nadovezuje na hrvatsku Autocestu A4.

A település 4.400 lelket számlál, Zala megye egyik legszebb kistérségi, járási központja a Mura-menti tájvédelmi körzet területén.
