Liestal (Alemannic German: [ˈliə̯ʃd̥l̩], StandardGerman: [ˈliːstal]), formerly spelled Liesthal, is the capital of Liestal District and the canton of Basel-Landschaft in Switzerland, 17 km (11 mi) south of Basel. Liestal is an industrial town with a cobbled-street Old Town.

Liestal is an industrial town with a cobbled-street Old Town in Switzerland, not far from Basel. It is the capital of the Basel-Landschaft canton, and was home to about 14,000 people in 2018.
