Standing at 13.5 metres high, this arch is the largest Chinese archway in Europe thus far, the impressive height reflecting the fact that Liverpool is home to the oldest Chinese community in Europe.

The immense imperial arch is the largest in Europe and was completed in September 2000, marking the twinning of Liverpool with Shanghai but it had been many years in the making, the product of years of co-operation between the Liverpool Chinatown Business Association, Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.
