Welcome - LMACC - Naval Postgraduate School
The key to implementing this strategy is the LMACC, or Lightly Manned Automated Combat Capability. In the past few years there has been much discussion of a “third offset” (artificial intelligence and autonomous capabilities). The USN has embraced autonomy in the aviation and undersea (MIW) domains for some time.
Engineering Concept - LMACC - Naval Postgraduate School
LMACC is intended to bridge the gap between fully crewed and lightly automated, to highly automated and lightly crewed. Autonomy found in SEA HUNTER class MUSVs (Medium Unmanned Surface Vessels) is easily adapted to lightly crewed warships, and retains the principle of human in/on the loop when armed with short and long range weapons.
Innovations - LMACC - Naval Postgraduate School
LMACC is able to meet the demands for different missions, and maintain a viable cloud-based sensor grid due to a number of innovations. The following areas are of special note, with references to the work that has been done in this area by others, or as part of the LMACC team.
The LMACC (Sea Fighter) will all have the same primary mission, deliver long range surface missiles into theaters of operation that the first two tiers cannot go into until the adversary’s long-range missiles have been defeated.

It is Time to Build Small Warships
2025年2月3日 · Scholars and engineers at the Naval Postgraduate School have developed a bi-modal fleet concept featuring a mix of small sea denial and large sea control vessels to correct this weakness. The key to implementing this strategy is the LMACC, or Lightly Manned Automated Combat Capability.
Narrative CONOPs - LMACC - Naval Postgraduate School
Lightly Manned Autonomous Combat Capability (LMACC) Concept of Operations (CONOPS) The following narrative is specifically reflective of the USMC's Force Design 2030. LMACC is not specific to just this mission, however as the narrative shows it is a major contributor to many of the gaps needing solutions in the current USMC concept.
Op-Ed: US Navy Needs a Small, Lightly-Manned Warship to …
2023年10月8日 · The proposal here, in support of the bi-modal fleet concept featuring a mix of sea denial and sea control vessels, is the LMACC (Lightly Manned Automated Combat Capability) system. This small...
In this new age of autonomy, the ability to merge autonomy with new technology in ship design, construction, manning and concepts will enable human-machine tactics that can provide the third tier needed. This study is intended to show that such a program is cost-feasible.
As the Marine Corps activates the Marine Littoral Regiment (MLR) to serve as the joint force’s reconnaissance and counter-reconnaissance effort, questions abound regarding the MLR’s ability to provide a persistent and lethal presence well inside the reach of our adversaries’ advanced long-range precision fires.
