Logan was formed on 01 September 1792 from the west portion of Lincoln County, Kentucky, in honor of Col. Benjamin Logan, a Virginia native who was a pioneer, politician, and soldier of the American Revolution. The northeast border of Logan County, upon creation, was the Green River.
