Lord Nelson, Wrabness Road. Another of the village pubs, having its own nursery garden and orchard. It is believed the original name was the Nelson, later becoming the Nelson Head and finally the Lord Nelson when the Ward family were landlords.

The Lord Nelson was situated on Wrabness Road. Formerly known as the Nelson and Nelson Head, this pub closed in 1961 and was converted for residential use.

On the 1st April 1914 Harwich got a bus service that ran between Harwich and Upper Dovercourt, which was contracted out to Thomas Tilling as a "Summer only" Service. There were two vehicles based in West Street including the LH-9196 seen above. The LH-9196 replaced the LF-9851, which ran from April - November.

It has now about 330 inhabitants, and 1056 acres of land, which belonged to the Abbey of Bury St. Edmund's, of which it was held by various families before and after the Conquest. E. W. Garland, Esq., is now lord of the manor, but part of the soil belongs to Miss Chaplin, Mr. Francis Richardson, and a few smaller owners.
