1. Orcs are not "Bad Elves" Tolkien never clarified the origin of Orcs, but many theories were proposed. The most accepted one is that Orcs were Elves captured and tortured into a "mockery of life" by Morgoth.

2015年1月12日 · The title sums it all, I just am seeking an answer in the Middle Earth world, not the Tolkien nor the Peter Jackson's world. I believe it is already a singularity to find a dwarf attracted to an elf and vice versa. So is it possible for the two breeds to reproduce? If it is, what can the outcome be? A hybrid, and dwarfish elf or an elvish dwarf?

2015年6月22日 · During The Hobbit Bilbo and the dwarves smell roasting meat coming from the elf feast in Mirkwood. Meat is served at the feast in Rivendell, and animal skins are offered in Lothlórien to sleep on. Furthermore, Tolkien mentions a few characters that are vegetarian (which suggests that, were all elves vegetarian, he would have said so as well.)

The "elf" element of Gandalf's name would be a metaphor meaning "magical, uncanny" rather than a literal statement that he is an elf. IIRC Tolkien noted that "Gandalf" could be translated as "elvish wight with a magic staff" in one of the LOTR appendices.

In the first Red Box D&D for example, and I believe also in the first AD&D, elves were in the low 5' range, somewhere between dwarfs and humans. If memory serves, Valley Elves in one of AD&D supplements were among the first elf sub races to be as tall or taller than humans.
