The Lotus 99T is a Formula One car designed by Gérard Ducarouge for use by Lotus in the 1987 Formula One World Championship. After Renault pulled out of F1 at the end of 1986, Lotus signed a deal with Honda for use of their turbocharged 1.5-litre engine.

Unveiled at an event in London on 3 February 1987, this was the first Lotus Formula 1 car to be powered by a Honda engine. The other significant change under the skin was return of computer-controlled ‘active’ suspension, which Lotus had been working on for several years and had already been seen, in less advanced form, on the Type 92 of 1983.

The Lotus 99T was based on the platform of the Lotus 98T but since Renault had left Formula 1 at the end of the 1986 season, Lotus switched to Honda engines. Williams had an exclusive deal with Honda which gave them use of the 1987-spec RA167E engine so instead, Lotus used the previous season's RA166E.
