2016年12月23日 · If GM is indeed planning a mid engined Corvette, might I suggest the DOHC LT5 for that application as well as the 3.6 TTV6 as a qualifier for European racing so that BOP rules don't go against the racing teams. I think the above directions adds differentiation between Camaro and Corvette and also gives GM a lot to work with.

2016年12月23日 · Regarding E, as far as I know it would be the first time GM made a DOHC engine based on the small block that they actually sold in production automobiles? The last LT5 GM dictated a 4.4" bore spacing, but it shared no other similarities with the small block iirc.

2016年12月22日 · If you would have asked me 25 years ago, I'd say DOHC the way to. Right now, not so sure. Regarding a possible Z/28 engine, I'd much prefer a non-AFM, 6.2L, cam in block. It will deliver the right power, torque and cost in a compact package. So, that's what I hope this LT5 is, because GM is dependent on off the shelf engines for the Camaro program.

2016年12月22日 · With just about everything south of 650 covered by LT1-LTA-LTA HO-LT4, I still would expect LT5 to come in north of that, BUT as AMERICA 123 points out regarding the DPi-V.R, perhaps a high-revving street-legal version of the 6.2 in there producing something around LS7 power could make it into a Z/28.

2016年12月22日 · The only real advantage of DOHC today is that you can make a higher reving engine which will then lead to higher peak hp ratings. A SIDI 6.2L DOHC V8 based on the L1 block will still likely generate a peak torque in the ~475 area. But it's redline could now be moved closer to 8000 rpm which would generate peak hp's in the area of about ~575hp.

2016年12月26日 · The 2 big things going for DOHC are higher revving due to reduced valve components and direct action, and VVT on both intake and exhaust independently, which creates infinite tunability for performance.

2016年12月22日 · The whole reason GM was developing DOHC heads for the LSx was as a big block replacement for trucks. So....yes, torque. Pony Car: an affordable, compact, highly styled car with a sporty or performance-oriented image and an available V8.

2016年12月31日 · Assuming there is a DOHC LT5 coming, the obvious comparison is Mercury Marine's SB4 (not coincidentally the manufacturer of the C4 LT5). 103.25mm x 92mm bore/stroke 6162cc 43.25mm INT valve 35mm EXH valve more flow than a NASCAR head at 15mm valve lift I would say it's not any taller than the LT4, 20-30 lb heavier, and slightly wider (and very ...
