The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB; Filipino: Lupon sa Prangkisa at Pamamahala ng Transportasyong Panlupa[1]) is an agency of the Republic of the Philippines under the Department of Transportation (DOTr). The LTFRB was established on June 19, 1987, during the former president Corazon Aquino ’s administration.

CPC holders who intend to apply for a single case number assignment (consolidated cases) of their CPC’s having identical or parallel routes or common area of operation per franchise. CPC holder who intends to extend the validity of their expiring or expired CPC. Operators can already apply for this service one year prior to expiration of their CPC.

The LTFRB was created by virtue of an Executive order issued on June 19, 1987, with the goal of simplifying the land transportation industry’s franchising system. Since the creation of the LTFRB, the issuance of franchises for land transport operators has become more stringent, resulting in higher safety standards for land travel.

The DOT accreditation seal certifies any tourism-related establishment that complies with minimum standards for business operations that ensure the safety, comfort, and convenience of tourists.

LTFRB’s primary role is the granting of franchises, or certificates of public convenience, to operators of public utility vehicles (PUVs). This meticulous process involves evaluating applications based on criteria such as route feasibility, demand for transportation services, and the adherence to safety standards.
