The Canada lynx (Lynx canadensis) or Canadian lynx is one of the four living species in the genus Lynx. It is a medium-sized wild cat characterized by long, dense fur, triangular ears with black tufts at the tips, and broad, snowshoe -like paws.

In colder northern climates lynx have thicker and lighter fur as well as larger and more padded paws that are well-adapted to snow. The smallest species are the bobcat and the Canada lynx, while the largest is the Eurasian lynx, with considerable variations within species.

Unlike grizzly bears, Canada lynx require highly specific habitat. They seek slopes with thick vegetation cover to build their dens and shelter their kittens.

In deep snow, lynx tracks are generally less distinct than bobcat tracks, since lynx toe pads are not visible as a result of abundant foot hair.
