The M16 rifle (officially designated Rifle, Caliber 5.56 mm, M16) is a family of assault rifles adapted from the ArmaLite AR-15 rifle for the United States military. The original M16 rifle was a 5.56×45mm automatic rifle with a 20-round magazine.

The trigger/hammer group is basically similar to the one found in the M1 Garand rifle. It actually traces its roots back to the early 1900’s, when the great John M. Browning developed his famous Auto-5 semiautomatic shotgun. This essentially consists of a hammer, a trigger, a disconnector, a full auto sear and some springs.

2011年7月16日 · Everybody is uber familiar with the M-16A1/A2. However after going over the military TM for the M-16/M-4 series of weapons I discovered something...the M-16A3. The TM describes it as being exactly like the A2 but with a full-auto capability. Has anybody here ever seen one or had experience with one? Who were they issued to and for what purposes?
