If Apple decides, for instance to make having ProRes Encode/Decode engines a requirement for the operating system due to a fundamental feature, then you might see M1 Macs dropped, while M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra, M2, M2 Pro, M2 Max, and newer keep support.

2008年2月11日 · The M1 is just fine if you’re on a tight budget. Anything with a M in it is going to be more than powerful enough for general computing. Even the base model M1 will work. I have a family member that still uses the original base M1 Air with the 7 core GPU. It works like a charm. What I would consider, though is look at the M2 Air.

2020年1月20日 · Magic mouse 2 here on M1 Air. It's been great, mostly. Currently on Monterey and scrolling can disappear and I have to disconnect and re-connect and its fine again for a while. Probably get fixed with a software update, I'm thinking.

2020年12月1日 · here for example, m1 mbp battery temperature rounded to 36 Celsius max during blender, while MBA had it around 43 Celsius. imagine lower case temps with thermal pad mod. Afaik there is a plenty of 65-70% battery capacity MB 2015-2017 just because of cramped hardware and entirely fanless design, so temperatures as a factor.

2022年7月3日 · On the M2 Air the 256GB SSD is around 50% slower than the 512GB SSD, but remember that on the M1 Air the 256GB SSD is around 25% slower than the 512GB SSD. Nothing wrong with saving money, its not like the M1 Air is a bad computer and you may prefer the wedge design. Spend the money you saved upgrading the RAM.

2024年10月28日 · Speaking for myself: I'm using an M1 Mac mini – a system similar to your MacBook Air – and I don't perceive a drop in performance; I intend to continue upgrading to new OS releases in the future. (I haven't yet installed OS 18.1, though, which sounds like something of a fundamental architecture shift with the big Apple Intelligence features.

2021年1月23日 · With the M1 having such a low TDP, a cheap thermal pad such more than suffice because 2.5W/m.K with a gap of 2mm yields 1250W/K (vs. just 13W/K with air). It would also appear to make sense for sustained loads to use the MBA in clamshell mode, upside side down to better dissipate the heat spread to the lower case.
