2012年4月12日 · Chin strap attached to a high pressure liner through use of brass (late war) clips. The first detachable straps featured a cam lever, to lock the leather once it was fastened around the chin or helmet. The very first hardware on these detachable straps was painted in a dark brown shade. Why brown? Most likely to match the color of the leather.

2023年1月16日 · Until at least 1955 you could still order just the “Releases, Chin strap, (T1)”, after which it either was used up or discontinued and replaced by a new “Release assy, Chin strap” spare part set, consisting of ball, hook and buckle. A new spare part “clip, chin strap” came in 1956 or 1957. Just the clip used by the hinges of the helmet.

2011年3月15日 · Yeah the helmet was bought from a surplus store more than a decade ago and it came with that cover and a 1984 dated USGI liner. I want to know if this M1 pot/ chinstraps can be considered 'Nam era. If so, I will pop in a 'nam issue liner and cover.

2014年11月21日 · Many years ago, I asked my late uncle, James Sweazy, who was a Platoon Sgt. in the 3rd Infantry Division, the helmet strap question. He confirmed that it was widely believed a buckled chin strap would break your neck, but he said when running, if unbuckled, his helmet would bounce off the bridge of his nose.

2017年1月20日 · -The helmet is a McCord with a heat stamp of 306A.-FS with FB.-Cork paint looks original (note: Shadow transfer of residue from tent peg strap). This is where the helmet takes a turn. The chin straps on the helmet have the T1 connector and are OD3 (I think).
