The M113 is a fully tracked armored personnel carrier (APC) that was developed and produced by the FMC Corporation. The M113 was sent to United States Army Europe in 1961 to replace the mechanized infantry's M59 APCs.

M114A1 of the Armored Cavalry Platoon 2/54th Infantry, 4th Armored Division takes part in exercises in Grafenwöhr, Germany. The M114 Command and Reconnaissance Carrier is a Vietnam War -era tracked armored fighting vehicle, used by the United States Army. It was manufactured by the Cadillac Division of General Motors in the early 1960s.

In 1967, the Argentine Army received from USA 250 M113A1 APC, 10 M577A1 command and control vehicles and 12 M548A1 cargo carriers. In 1992, they received from USA 200 M113A2 APC, 25 M106A1 mortar carrier, 10 M577A1 command and control vehicles and 16 M548A1 cargo carriers. Some variants are modified by the Army's Comando de Arsenales. [2][3]

In addition to the basic M113 APC, other variants included the M58 Smoke Generator Carrier, M548 Cargo Carrier, M577 Command Post Carrier, M901 Improved TOW Vehicle, and other versions for medical evacuation and engineer missions.

The M113 Armored Personnel Carrier (APC), increased the mobility of infantry. It provided mobile armored protection for 11 soldiers in full combat gear and the driver and track commander as they moved across the battlefield.

With a staggering 76,000 built, the vehicle can be found as the work horse of many mechanised units on every continent in the world and has to be in the top 10 of Armoured Vehicles of all time.
