2020年4月19日 · As soon as the M1911 was adopted the Navy asked for slides to be roll-marked PROPERTY OF US NAVY. However, it cost them an extra $1.50/pistol so they stopped after 15,037 units (March 1915). BTW, there were 0 guns marked for the USMC, although old books refer to such slides and unscrupulous sellers have created some to satisfy the demand for them.

It was first refurbed by the Augusta Arsenal, then it was refurbed by the Rock Island Arsenal and stamped by Frank Krack. It is one of my favorite pistols and I can only imagine the places it could have been. Thanks for sharing those great pistols!!!!! Chris

2008年7月2日 · It improve steadiness. You can achieve the same with a string loop of proper lenght tensioned between neck and thumb. With the arrival of M1911 lanyards were tied more to the magazine loop than to the pistol cause if you had to change the mag, the empty would risk to be dropped on the ground and get lost.

Assume that soon one of them will take it off. I have bought from Gunderson before and thought I would try to make a deal. $7000 is a lot but maybe something can be done if he still has it.

2021年9月12日 · So it's a Colt M1911 (receiver) with a Springfield Armory slide. The mark over the flaming bomb looks like a Canadian acceptance mark, but the picture isn't that great. The crown over BNP is a British (or Commonwealth) proof mark. I don't see any British or Canadian marks on the receiver.

2025年1月21日 · I recently added this sealed box of Frankford Arsenal M1911 cartridges (Lot FA 676) to my collection. The "Non-Corrosive Primer" printing caught my eye, so I did some research. Turns out that Frankford Arsenal made one lot (#676) of 479,800 cartridges (23,990 - 20 round cartons) for testing purposes (of non corrosive primers).
