2010年7月13日 · Re: M40 Build Guide Chuck's rifle was still in service 30 years after he had used it in Vietnam. I think around 1999 or so, cant remember exactly what year, they took his rifle (correct serial number) out of service. It was still being used as an M40a1 in Okinawa.
M40A6 current USMC Scout Sniper rifle UPDATED & PIC
2010年12月9日 · Remington 700 SA (trued & slotted). The new style slotting is not typical as used on M40, M40A1, M40A3 or M40A5. The slot on the A6 is limited to the ejection port relief cut and rear action decking. There are no lug slot cut outs. The chassis does not have lugs that fit down into the receiver as did the optical platform on M40A1, M40A3 and M40A5.

2020年2月27日 · Its not correct for M40, close but missing the cheek rise pad and safety bump. Mine is pretty nicely figured, it should make a nice rifle. It likely will be the weakest piece of my design @LongRifles Inc. will have some magic to do with it. Wood stocks can be had cheap. Hope fully they are aged correctly.

2014年10月4日 · Re: Bell and Carlson M40 stocks? I now have two of them. (see side by side pic below) The green rifle(700tactical)was built from a brand new box stock rifle, using all brand new stuff. Everything went together in three minutes, without issue. No fitting required whatsoever, including the Wyatt's DBM setup.

2023年3月7日 · If the rifle doesn't pass the paper test, move along, it's probably not an M40. I say "probably" just to give the opportunity for the "exception to the rule" to show up. However, 100% of all original USMC 6 digit serial number M40's have these features.

2017年11月1日 · I’m aware that the original M40 was essentially a factory Remington varmint rifle. Modern references to the M40 profile barrel usually refer to the later specification, heavier, straight tapered barrels that were adopted as a result of the M40 product improvement program, which ultimately resulted in the fielding of the M40A1, M40A3, and so on.
what is the correct sling used on the early m40
2008年3月1日 · Okay, I recently got the remington commemorative m40. I ordered the green leupold scope and badger retro rings. I was thinking about going authentic but decided against it as it is on a commemorative rifle. Anyway, the rifle comes with a nylon sling in the box. I am wondering what was the slings that were issued on the early models.

2011年6月4日 · The M40's were basically just Remington 700 Varmint Specials with no checkering on the stock and an oil finish. They used the standard Remington Varmint barrel contour. What most barrel makers now have listed as their M40/M24 barrel contour is actually the M40A1, M40A3 and M40A5 barrel contour which is basically a #7 Douglas contour.
