The 2,000 horsepower model was a modest success although only 98 were produced between 1973-1977, including a small order of eight cabless "B" units for British Columbia Railway.

2011年2月25日 · Atlantic City train passes over SRNJ power. A front profile of the SRNJ 3579 at Winslow Junction, NJ. Almost looks like its levitated! Parts engine & active engine. This ex-Canadian National M420W was found at Winslow Junction sitting on blocks. Unit has recently been scrapped around the week of July 23-28, 2012.
